Newbie from South Carolina! My chickens are coming in Saturday and we're more than willing to hear any advice. Thanks in advance guys!

Hi, welcome to BYC!

If you haven't already, check out the Learning Center. There a lots of good articles there on all sorts of chicken topics and they'll help you get off on the right foot.

What breed of chicks are you getting? How exciting to have them coming.

If you have questions, feel free to ask.

Nice to have you here!

Random backyard layers. I'm relocated the flock from family. No one is really sure exactly what they are. I figured it would be a good learning experience for our son to have a little hands on experience.

Welcome to the BYC flock! We are glad you joined us!

Be sure to check out the "Learning Center" tab near the top of the page. If you have any other specific questions, just let us know. Then, once you get your birds, feel free to post pictures of them in the "What breed and gender" section and we would be glad to tell you what kinds of birds you have.

Good luck!

They are doing great so far. I wasn't expecting to get 9 eggs in the first 48 hours of relocation but we've started a little collection already. A few have been identified as American Game, a Barred Rock hen, a couple that look like Wyandotte, and black ones that have black legs... Any help on the latter is greatly appreciated. Lol

The "black ones that have black legs" sound like Australorps. Those are very pretty birds and good layers too.
