Thanks forwelcoming me to the site.I really like it here so far!I was new to chicken keeping about 4 years ago(When we moved out to the country),and knew nothing about them
I got my first two chickens(Both sex-links,One red,one black) from my uncle ,who was going to eat them.They were sort of a late christmas gift.At first they were shy,but the black one started eating from my hand.For the first year, I took the place of their rooster,watching them and feeding them.The next year my uncle gave us a brown leghorn rooster.He was soo pretty,but he favored the older hen and was really aggressive towards people,but ran from real predators.I gave him to a neighbor when our hens hatched about 5 roosters and 2 hens.I sold them to some friends.On Easter ,I got two chicks,a green white leghorn(Named Pinky) and a RIR(RIR is named stinky).Later that week I got a baby turkey(Tinky).I let my sister name them.Both chicks turned out to be roosters,and the turkey a hen.I kept both Roosters because they were very nice to people.The white leghorn is my Pinky(inversion of green is pink)the alpha roo.In 2007, I bought 2 black australorps,and a neighbor gave me an "old" blue audalusian.She became the new alpha hen.I bought two more sex-links 2 weeks ago and they are now established members of the flock.I have three coops,(My roos are separate now to reduce stress on the hens),My white leghorn's flock consists of the 2 australorps,blue andalusian,the 2 new sex-links,my hen turkey(She refuses to leave pinky and Pinky's new baby(now about a month old)They have the largest of he three coops.My RIR's flock is four brown leghorns(it's hard to find RIR hens here)with a moderate sized coop,amd the last flock is my first two ladies,(the rulers of the yard),and a brown leghorn roo,with about 4 of their chicks in a fairly large coop,And all of hem are very close to me as I am them.I did have a tom turkey,but Tinky(my hen turkey) ,became very aggressive and nearly killed him,so I had to give him up. I will try to post some pics of my flock and coops later

It sounds like you're on your way to having an enormous flock. No worries, we are here to encourage you in your obsession. There is no such thing as too many chickens!
