Hi, I am new to backyard chickens. Our 9 year old has wanted chickens for some time so here we go....

Welcome to BYC. Click on 'The Learning Center' at the top of the page. Keep your child interested. The fancy needs young blood.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! Do you have ideas on what breeds or have you started already? Chickens sure are a great way to get kids to learn about caring for or animals and it really is a hobby the whole family can enjoy. Be sure to ask any questions, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

We are going to get Rhode Island reds and possibly some Plymouth Rocks. I think an Easter chicken would be nice too.

Definitely Rhode Island Reds are very fun and love to go outside. Easter Eggers are just like lap dogs and love to be held and loved. Plymoth Rocks are a bunch of fun to. Great choices!
