Hello Everyone,

I've been reading the forums on BYC for along time, now I have a reason to join. I have six barred rocks and two RIR, twenty two weeks old. Several of them have started laying pullet sized eggs about two weeks, so far 48 eggs laid.

BYC is the best site for interesting info and keeping current with people that I can relate to me with the forum.

I have thirty four years in the Zoological field, about fifteen years in major aviculture collection, now retired. But I missed the animals at the Zoo and wanted to keep my own chickens. I had chickens as a kid and it brings back fond memories watching their antics.

I am very pleased to be a member of BYC.

so glad you decided to join us.

You must have had a fascinating career. Congrats on your retirement and all those lovely eggs.

Hint: bet you know, but if not. Steaming instead of boiling makes shelling those really fresh eggs easy

Thank you very much. And yes, it was a fascinating career.

At this point, we don't need to worry about steaming, boiling, frying or cooking our eggs in anyway, we're giving more away to friends and neighbors then we eat. everyone has been waiting and asking for fresh eggs.
