I've been following BackYard Chickens since March when I first started. It's been very helpful (still learning). My biggest fear is the wintertime and how to keep those girls warm and laying. Can't get enough of those fresh eggs!

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

Chickens do remarkably well in even very cold climates. Rain, snow, freezing temps - doesn't seem to faze 'em. As for eggs, all birds will slow down laying during winter. You can keep up production by giving them a few extra hours of light each day, but personally I don't like to. I find it stresses their systems.

Hello and

! Oh yes the winter can be kind of daunting but foam board insulation and a heat lamp should be good for your chickens. Make sure you have ventilation as well.
