Hi and welcome to Backyard Chickens! I am so glad you are joining us! If you are looking for a good friendly breed of chicken where even the rooster is sweet, get Australorps. They have high egg production, are friendly, and the roosters don't fight with each other and are generally very good. Provided you handle them a significant amount (which isn't difficult!) they should be super friendly, sweet, egg making pets.

Trying to navigate this forum, I saw something posts wanting to regime chickens, having a little trouble finding things

Ok something not sure what kind would be best one the cockerel, I have 9 barred rock hens right now. Bought them as babies and they are only 6-8 weeks still. Was wanting some Rhode islands or some other good egg layer ( brown preferably) but was not sure where to get any. Ended up with barred rock because that is what rural king had at the time

Welcome aboard! :frow

Rhode Island reds are very good layers but, tend to be aggressive with other breeds.
White leghorns are great layers but, a flighty breed. Lots of folks are forgoing having a rooster - many turn out to be too aggressive with people and hens. Unless you need a rooster for fertile eggs to sell or hatch, hens will continue to lay the same about of eggs without one - albeit infertile eggs.
