We reached out to my sister-in-law, who was in a rural area, but did not keep chickens. However she found a man through her church who kept a small farm in their area and my roo got a great new home. I have heard horror stories about craig's list. But we live in an area where illegal cock fighting still exists.

agree, also people tend to take birds thinking of "free dinners." They don't always tell the truth when taking them.
