(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new. We have 2 barred rock’s we have raised since 1 week, now 15 weeks. They eat from my hands but won’t let me touch them. They were held every day before free ranging. We now have 2 comets 5 weeks old. The comets were choosen because they are suppose to be docile and friendly. These 2 must be Diva’s bc they do not want to be picked up or held and we have had them since they were 3 days old.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 4

(3) What breeds do you have? 2 Barred Rock and 2 Comets

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Googled “How to add 2 small chicks to our 2 hens". The 2 little ones are in a canvas pen with net windows during the day. The older girls do spend time looking in at them. I tried letting them free range together but the older dominant BR about pecked the little one’s head off. Not really, but pretty hard.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Newly retired, enjoy modernizing old furniture, grandchildren (9), fishing, Arctic Sport riding trails w/ hubby and target shooting in the woods.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Married, retired nurse, 2 dogs; miniature poodle 12.5 yo diabetic / blind but happy and a small terrier mix rescue /took 2 years to trust us, both boys. 5 children, 9 grandchildren
 
Please try the "Look but don't touch method," of integration - where the new & established birds have a wire divider between them in the run .They can see each other and can't do any damage. After a period of time (??) the oldies will be used to seeing the new birds and be more inclined to accept them.

We have an “Omlet" coop with a 3 foot run. The coop has a door separate from sleeping area for laying eggs. They free range during the day. They see each other every day thru a netting window. I read putting them together after they are asleep works (??)
 
We have some things in common. I am a RN who has been staying at home for 11 years. I started with 4 Red Production chicks last year, but now have 13 bantam chicks, wanting something more cuddly (cuddly as chickens can be).
I used to have a 12 yo toy poodle. Now I have a yorkie and recently adopted a 12 yo, deaf, nearly blind maltese mix.
