We are not sure who got them, some just disappeared and i found the bodies of 2. There heads were gone and they were ripped open. And after a few days they were no where to be found. The worst of it all is our horse opened up a gate and let 2 dogs out and they killed 3 of my 5 goats. Sofia, Lola, and Jill the baby. The girls were pregnant two. I am so sick about it. Cried all night. So i am invested in keeping the little ones safe, the ones i hatched.

Terrible losses, sorry that happened :(

G’Day from down under Paulaaswan :frow Welcome!

I am sorry to read of your tragic losses but congrats on the little ones!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Hi Paula, sorry for the losses and congrats on the assisted hatch. Do you know what's getting your birds? I've always heard if they roost in trees overnight they are at more risk for being taken by predators.

Best of luck to you!
I think roosting in the trees is safer than sitting on the ground. My other chickens were probably killed first thing in the morning.
