Hi, I'm Kara and I live in the southern portion of PA/northern MD. Born and raised on the dairy farm. We had cattle, not chickens!! I just recently purchased my first flock of 6 and I just adore them. I could sit all day and watch them! They are strictly for pets as I have 3 daughters who would be devastated if one came up missing. I am taking in as much info as I can bc I never knew the proper way to raise chickens. I stumbled across this site and was intrigued by the influx of infirmation offered here. So...here I am, the newbie!!

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

I am glad that you decided to join the community of chicken lovers and enthusiasts. Although i will warn you, be careful with chickens as the more you love them, the more you will want to get. It's called the chicken addiction!
