Hi! I’m excited to be a part of this community. I have gotten so many helpful answers here since starting my chicken addiction. I got my first coop and flock for mother’s day last year and it was the best gift ever!! We have a flock of 10, 7 laying and three younger, soon to be laying. (We had several get eaten by a fox, so we replaced them). Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this community!

Thank you! We realized we couldn’t free- range unless we were right there with the girls... sadly. We built a big run and when there isn’t snow in the ground, let them out for awhile with us there. We have a very bold fox that lives close by! He attacked while my kids were playing out in the yard! He does not want us around when we are there... trust me! Hard to see, but this was Mr. Fox watching me clean the coop one day! Way too bold.

Hi and welcome to Byc. Foxes are very cunning and smart ( and horrible murderous animals). I think it may be an idea to try and put a secure Predator proof fence for your girls. There are plenty of ideas and advice here for you to look at.:welcome
