Ive had chickens my whole life.
Moved from New England + upstate NY to the warmth of South Carolina.
Its a whole new world down here! 14 chicks in the brooder in my mudroom while we build a coop ( yep. Chicks before housing. Of course) im finding i have to change my thought process from preparing for winter cold to preparing for spring summer fall heat!
I almost feel like a newby in the chicken department. A whole new way of raising them. Different predators maybe. Still studying on this...

Welcome to BYC! I bet that would be an interesting transition. I spent a few months in Charleston some years back and barely kept myself going with the humidity haha. As far as predators go, I had opossum and raccoons galore. Predator proofing is a must, which I'm sure you already know :)

:welcome

I understand how you're feeling...a couple years ago I moved from FL to WY. It does take a different way of thinking about things when a big location change like that is made.

Best of luck with your new part of the country, thanks for joining us!

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

Your local state thread will help with the specifics of raising chickens at the new place.

Congratulations on the move!

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. Even though you've got a lot of experience already, there's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Maybe you'll be able to add to it? Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Hope you enjoy the site!
