Hi, I'm a someone who ended up adding Masked to the beginning of their user because the original was actually taken.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I've had Rhode Island Reds nearly a decade ago, so I'm familiar, but no expert.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I have five chicks and a duckling

(3) What breeds do you have?

One is a Buff Orpington, but we aren't entirely sure what the others might be.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

Usually from googling a question about chickens

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Does college coursework count...?

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I've also a bright-eyed dog and a cat.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you include your general location on your profile, this will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
