Hi I am a new Member who just got four chicks of my own. One Black Australorp, one Buff Orpington, one Barred Rock, and on jersey giant. They are one week old right now and are all hens. I would love any tips and tricks for my new babies and I hope to use this site to give them the best possible life.

Welcome to BYC! Knowledgeable group of people are abundant in this site. My first advise keep feed and water clean everyday and keep the brooder and coop clean, no smell and no disease. In the brooder I top their beddings every 2 days if not everyday so they don’t walk and sleep in poo, clean thoroughly once a week. Raise the waterer and feeder accordingly as they get more active and bigger. Come on experts chime in! I like to do it slowly on newbies LOL.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

Hello and welcome to BYC!! So glad you joined the flock. I would like to add that most of your girls are broody type hens so you may want to break them of that. Without a rooster they may become malnourished and weak if your not prepared for it. More info below. Best of luck with your new flock
