Yes I am too - I am aware of the problems and realise the enormity of them too. It would break my heart to have to part with any of our birds. We have no idea about the chicks, both have attributes consistent with pullets and cockerels, so is definitely a wait and see on all accounts. The eldest chick is definitely boss of the flock including the runners, but all get on so well, they hate being apart and are always together although they have more than ample space to be away from each other. They never fight, the underlings always 'doing as they are told' by the chief chicken and it is amazing how the chief takes care of the flock, even has squared up to me when I caused one of the runners to squeal when I picked it up. It would be heartbreaking to have to separate them. In my view, best case scenario would be all females or at least one of each, duck, drake, cockerel, hen. But as I said it really is just having to wait and see.Welcome to BYC. Hoping for duck hens rather than drakes as drakes raised with chicken hens is a problem waiting to happen.
