Hello, my name is Bettie and I live in Western Maryland. I am a Wildlife Rehabilitator and I have a lot of rescued animals and their offspring. I have goats, donkeys, sheep, geese ducks and a pot belly pig named Pebbles. I also raise chickens and guineas. I sell my chicks to pay for my winter hay. I raise specifically Appenzeller Spitzhabens, Buff Polish, Seramas and Guineas. I have been working with wildlife for 26 years and raising chickens for over ten years. Anything I can learn from this site is a plus. I do have a tip for people who hatch out chicks and have had occasion to deal with splay leg. Go to the dollar store and buy a roll of the rubbery shelf lining. Put that in your tubs or whatever you keep your chicks in and you won't have splay leg again. I lost quite a few chick until I got this stuff and used it for my chicks to walk on. Well worth the purchase, which is about $5. Happy to be a member.
