Two things you might wonder about. One, they are fine with chickens as long as there are enough ducks for each drake. Otherwise, the drake can kill the chicken hens when mating.
Second, to keep the ducks from getting into the water bowl, put a brick in the center, use coffee cans (add a weight if it gets tipped), use a container with a hole cut for the ducks head to fit through, or build a frame for the water dish that only leaves half exposed.
