Hello; new to the forum and looking forward to great information!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Brand new; hoping to get 4 hens this Spring 2019.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Zero, for now.
(3) What breeds do you have? My friend is offering me a cross between Buff Orpington and Auracana’s or also called Americanas.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Interested in raising and caring for them, egg production, and self-reliance (i.e. so we can stop buying eggs at the store).
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, and target shooting.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. It's me, the Wife, and our toddler son; live in southwest/west suburban Chicago on a 1/3 acre lot, work in an office environment for a specialty contractor, and love Chesapeake Bay Retrievers (we had to say goodbye to ours last June 2018).
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? Google and my interest in backyard chickens led me here and got me to join.
