Hi everyone, my name is Robert and my family just got into the chicken game!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes and no, I grew up on a farm with dozens of chickens, but this is my first foray into chickens as an adult.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
4 we are like Starks but with chickens, Their names are Rose(Rhode Island), Rex(NH), Enchilada(NH), and Baby Shark(NH).
(3) What breeds do you have?
3 New Hampshire Reds and 1 Rhode Island Red
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I'm not sure yet, they are still small chicks, we got them last week. Today I sat on the back porch while my 1 y/o played on the slide and the chicks were chirping and got some work done.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
My real passion is fishing and camping. I try to fish at least once a week, 2 or 3 times if I can. I'm a web developer so my other hobby is starting new projects and abandoning them after a couple days.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a wonderful wife of 12 years, 4 kids, ages 11,9,5, and 19m. We have a dog named buddy, he is a bichpoo. I'm a web developer and I make jigs for a bass fishing lure company.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I think I saw a reference to BYC on reddit first. I've known about BYC for a week. I'm going to start building my starter coop/run this weekend so I figured I'd join up and make it official!
