In the Brooder
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, fairly new. Have had my flock for about a year now.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 20. 6 are meat birds.(Family has to eat.
)
(3) What breeds do you have? Bruce is a Speckled Sussex Rooster. Fonzie is a Back Frizzle Cochin Bantam Rooster. Greta is a Welsummer Hen. Ruth is a Grey Wyandotte. 2 Black Laced Wyandottes. 3 Australorps. 5 Cherry Egger Hens. The meat birds are also Australorps.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Considering we have nothing but brown layers, the family LOVES the amount of delicious eggs we collect in a day. They are all wonderful and entertaining to watch.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I enjoy heavy metal and rock music. Attending music festivals and concerts. I like to read books. I enjoy painting. I enjoy fishing and bird watching. Horror movies and documentaries are my addiction. It's fun to be weird.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am a married mother of 4. Almost 8yr old boy. 4yr old boy. 3yr old girl and 1 1/2yr old girl. I stay busy. Stay at home mom/homesteader. Among the chickens we have 4 ducks, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 snapping turtles. And currently I have six duck eggs incubating for the first time. I also LOVE eating duck eggs.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found byc on Google and after reading some threads I figured that my newbie self could use some advice, tips and fellowship.
