I'm from Cumming, Georgia. I just joined as I want to learn all I can about finding the best place to put the chicken coop, best type of coop, best egg laying chicken and the care and requirements of chickens. Thanks in advance for the info!

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
Coop on high ground, in the shade, NOT a pre-fab, LOTS of ventilation, 4 sq ft per bird in the coop and 12 min sq ft per bird in the run. Secure such that there are no openings into the coop greater than 1/2". Use hardware cloth not chicken wire.
There are lots of breeds that lay well. Select breeds that will thrive in your climate.
Feed a complete feed that offers 18-20% protein for life. Provide oyster shell on the side at 15 weeks. Lots of fresh clean water always.
