I have been raising chickens for just a year. I started with 16 hens and a rooster of 5 different breeds. I have black astrolorps, RIR, americanaa, golden comets and I did have barred rock. Unfortunately I lost 5 hens to a neighbor dog.
My hens have been laying for 9 months. My american a rooster was mean and attacked me every time he could. I gave him to a friend. I now have a Willie I acquired from my grand daughter because it turned out to be a top instead of a when and she lived where only hens were allowed. Then I got a big black langshorn from a friend. He is beautifully and big.
