Just got 3 two year old hens from a family that was moving. I haven't had chickens in 40 years. These girls are just for eggs. They truly are so much fun. The lady I got them from had a flock of 40. One of the hens has a red bottom. She was being picked on. I wonder what I should do. The other hens are not picking on her.

Thank you. We have named her red bottom. Her bottom isn't as cherry red as it was. She does look like there are a few tiny new feathers coming. Poor little thing.

Hello Barbara and welcome to BYC the place of the friendliest and most knowledgeable people on the planet. If you issue can't be resolved by the great folks here....its unsolvable. Glad you joined the family. I don't know a lot about chickens YET but what I have learned from folks here is if RedBottom had 39 other flock mates and now has way less her odds of being a target went way up. I'm reasonably sure the pecking order will work it self out.
