Hello. I’ve had chickens now for one year. Started with 4 chicks, ended up with 8 (got suckered into 2 rescues and a couple more freebies). Is that called chicken math? Got rid of the rooster this year, but not before he fertilized five eggs from my mixed flock (Plymouth Barred Rock boss hen, salmon favorolle, Light Brahma, Jersey Giant, Easter Egger, golden laced Wyandotte, black Cochin. My little salmon fav’ girl decided she wanted to be their mother. So now I have the 5 mixed babies (dad was Buff Orpington Roo that had to go away if you know what about mean. I know none of the eggs were from my Cochin (accidentally dropped hers). I know one was definitely an EE because the egg was blue, one is from the light Brahma because it’s white with black coming through on neck and tail, but the rest are anybody’s guess. It’s fun to guess.
