Hello! I'm new to raising chickens. I have 6 Cross Cornish chickens that are 5 weeks old. I also just aquired 8 Leghorn layers. They are approximately 4 ish months old. A friend got the Leghorns through Craigslist and her hubby decided he didn't want chickens that lay white eggs so she gave them to me.

Yes! How awesome is that!?!?!!! So we then had to learn and build a hoop coop. It's 8' x 12' and approximately 6' high. I think they have enough room. Lol🤣 While working on the hoop coop a fox came by to visit the Cross Cornish chickens. Good thing I had come back outside. I chased off the fox and hubby and I took turns monitoring the Cross Cornish chickens while we gathered all we needed to wrap the coop up in hardware cloth. Haven't seen the fox any more. Guess he decided he could get into Chicken Fort Knox. That escapade put us behind on the hoop coop so the Leghorns had to spend their first night here in a dog crate.

Will you be processing the Cornish crosses yourself?

I'd like to give it a go but I'm not sure yet. If I could find someone in my area to guide me that would be wonderful.
