Hi my name is Diane and I am a new member, and a new chicken owner. I am also new to Forums in general. We started out with 14 Chicks and to date have only 10 . We lost 2 today, not sure why and this why I am reaching out of my comfort level to a Forum.

A few losses in the beginning seems standard.

I lost a few little ones in the very beginning and then one for a long time.

Later lost my top hen to a hawk (I think). So there has been mistakes, nature, and learning to protect from those same things.
