Hello!! I just became member to BackYard Chickens. We just added 2 new members 2 our family and so I joined this site to help us learn more ideas & also to make sure we provide the proper care for our new Farm Friends!

We took in a rooster a few months ago & have been hoping we could find some hens to add to our coop! We named our rooster, Brewster the Rooster! We had someone ask us if we would like to home a hen & give Brewster a friend. So we were gonna see if you guys could help us with some ideas as to how we should introduce the 2 of them cause they both are grown and maybe help us with a name for our new family member! I have no pics of Brewster but hes more of a off white, broad body with the beautiful green/aqua tail. The hen is just a small petite white hen with the kindest eyes ive ever seen on any kind of chicken..would love a name to go with Brewster or something that stands out as strong as Brewster! Thanks guys!! Cant wait to start strolling through & learning new ideas from everyone!!

Thats what we are hoping to achieve soon! We rescue animals & help rehome them & all..BUT, we have decided that any hens or roosters that come to us that this is goin to be their 4ever home as long as we can keep them safely together. We have been told so many diff rules that we are open to any kind of ideas. 1st question is, "We know we dont want all roosters or 2 many roosters and not enough hens..so how many hens should we have before taking in another rooster? Or should we only have Brewster as the only rooster and how many hens would be the perfect amount for him??

Taking in multiple roosters is going end badly for the roosters. They WILL fight. Sometimes until someone dies.

As @sourland said, Brewster is going to need more ladies. If you have room, I'd add at least 5 or 6 more girls.
