A visitor came by one day and happened to have a rooster with them. Did I want him? No, but maybe. No spurs, non aggressive, prolific fertilizer. Buck Owen's, black Cooper Maran, joined our equine farm. No where to put him, so he went into rabbit yard. A day later, he flew up a tree and would not come down. Neighbor gave us Lola, Rhode Island Red to tempt him. Didn't work. Delimbed tree until he came down - now the perfect place for them to hang out - very large cedar tree. Lola's sister, Gertrude, joined us. Buck Owen's was a happy rooster. Improvements to rabbit yard to keep chickens and rabbit safe. I wanted a different color egg. Farrier sold me a black copper Maran pullet, Crow (very slow to mature). Thrown in with Crow, a very hen pecked Cream Legbar, Minnie Pearl (coop name, Butter Butt - it looks like its ready to butter up and cook). I enjoy the heck out of these chickens. They get along with the rabbit. Gertrude prefers to lay in the bottom floor of the rabbit hutch. I am working on tether training them. Plans for Buck Owens are to arm perch train him like a falcon. He has the piercing stare down. They ride on a golf cart with me. We go out bug hunting. Yes, they have dressed up to model. Amazed me how quickly I picked up on each hen's preferences. But they are excellent communicators. We are Kyrie Grace Mesa, located in the midlands of SC. I am in an excellent FB group, Crazy Chicken Lovers SC.
