Hello everyone! I need all the advice & information you can give me. My son was sent out of state for work when they were a few mts old. The girlfriend does not want to do the work so I am sitting his flock. I love animals so I would like to make sure they have what they need. I just lost a laying hen because she flew over the fence into the neighbors yard & was attacked by her dog! . So I clipped the right wing on each one. They do not like to go in their house & only sleep on the top & my few hens who are laying are all using only one box! I could sure use some advice!! Thank you with all my heart!

I'm sorry for your loss as well. But clipping a wing will make it harder if not impossible for your bird to fly from danger. The only thing they have left is to try and hide in thick brush.

I have 16 hens and 3 nesting boxes, they will share the same one, this is perfectly fine!
As for not wanting to go into the coop at night, do they go into the coop throughout the day?

Can you post pictures of your coop? If it is one of the prefab coops you can get then it's likely too small and too hot for them to sleep in.
