Hi!
My mom has been raising chicks and laying hens for about 10 years now and while we have been quarantined, my husband built me a backyard coop and my mom got us day old chicks for Easter. We are off to a rough start so far. We lost one at about 8 weeks to bullying and another turned out to be a rooster and we had to rehome him. Our plan was to have six hens but we are down to five. We have two barred rocks, two black polish, and one super blue. We love all our chicks but our polish are my favorite. They are so sweet and friendly, and I think they’re the cutest!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Our city allows for up to four hens but no roosters. He was sent to a friend’s farm where he will become a breeder. He was super cute and friendly, just not allowed where we live. I am here to learn more about chicken keeping and to learn how to integrate another hen (same age) in with our hens.
