I've been wanting to raise some ducks for a few years now and this fall I actually did it. Only one egg made it unfortunately but I'm going to try again in the spring to see if I can't get this duck some company. His name is Muddy and as of now, he's a week old!
I finally joined because I've been using this website for a lot of my duck-related questions and concerns and now I have some of my own regarding something that happened with Muddy recently so I made an account to ask it. I'm sure I'll be using this for much more than that, though.

Here's a picture of Muddy (from when I took him out of the brooder for a solid minute to take better pictures to try and figure out what breed he is. I settled on a Welsh Harlequin/Khaki Campbell mix.)

Muddy is adorable- do you intend to get a companion duckling for him/her??
I do, yes! The farmer I bought hatching eggs from suggested we try again in the spring so hopefully some time next year he'll have a buddy. For now people have been giving great advice for substitution companionship for him. I think I'll try putting a mirror in his brooder.
