My family acquired 4 chicks during the first month of quarantine...it was our new project. We have 2 teenage sons who were surprisingly very interested in joining in on the family fun so we knew we had to follow through! Each of us researched which chick we wanted and ended up with a Columbian Rock Cross, Buff Orpington, Lavender Orpington, and a Cuckoo Marans. We fell in love with them immediately! We got a store bought coop which lasted a few weeks before it was outgrown and then purchased another store coop and then finally attached a long run between the two coops. That is working for us so far...as we head in to our first winter. I am looking forward to learning more about keeping our girls happy and healthy!

Welcome How fun ! So are they laying ? Great idea to combine 2 coops. We saw one at a store that was so small we couldn't imagine how it could work. What part of country are you at? Just curious as wi yet is full blown here in NE.

Welcome to BYC! I saw a post in coop builds a few days back where someone turned a store bought coop with run into a larger coop by enclosing the run.
