Well, she's had some issues since she was a couple weeks old. I'd find her stuck on her back, kicking her legs around, and her neck and leg joints were stiff. I suspected a niacin deficiency so I started alternating her chick grower with niacin rich foods like peas and tuna. (She's currently switching between duck feed and peas/tuna). She started seemed to be getting better and was making a lot of progress but it's two weeks later and she keeps ending up on her back again, she's eating and drinking less so she's lightweight now, and she keeps constantly opening and closing her mouth and extending her tongue. There's no raspy breathing, so for now I'm not suspecting a respiratory issue but I could be wrong. (I wasn't 100% about her having a niacin deficiency. That's just what I'm guessing based on her symptoms and age.)Hello, welcome to BackYard Chickens! Thank you for joining our community. What advice do you need?
To me it seems like Toxoplasmosis, but I can be wrong. @Isaac 0, do you know what it is?Well, she's had some issues since she was a couple weeks old. I appreciate the assistance. Unfortunately, she didn't make it through the night.@HannahVaz , welcome to BYC - sorry to hear your duck is having problems.
It sounds like there may be a few things going on, but it's hard to get a good idea of what might be the problem with just a quick description. Fill free to post a thread using the link below, and provide some more detailed information ( environmental conditions, video/pictures, physical examination, etc)
