A little aboit our crazy little farm. It all started when my husband wanted turkeys. Mind you he was a city boy until we met in high school. So we finally have the room to have animals and we started with 2 turkeys and 2 ducks. In a matter of hours we were up to 4 ducks 2 turkeys and 12 chickens lol yes 3 kids get their way a lot with dad and animals lol. Turkeys were got for harvesting. And chickens were for eggs. We go thru a lot of eggs. And ducks were for fun. A few weeks later my husband decides he need MORE turkeys 🤦‍♀️ and gets 16 heritage breed turkeys. Oh I feel in love. I wanted to keep them all! They were so much fun. When they were all big enough to move to their outside home we had a blast. Sadly that night a minx for all 16 turkeys. And the next night got a duck. A few days later come back and got another duck. Needless to say. My husband and my oldest (18) stayed up all night for 3 nights to protect what we had left. The had a vengeance to settle. Our birds are all now protected with an electric fence to deter anything from snacks. And now we are doing a garden for canning and we would like to have garden ducks. Oh and now he wants to get quail. Eventually we have talked about pigs and a cow. But thats down the road a bit lol. Right now we are the crazy bird house. Lol. The neighbor kids like to walk by (not sure ages but small lol) and see the birds. I'm just glad to be showing my kids that you don't have to have a lot of $$ to survive in life. You can be self sufficient and have a lot. Dont get me wrong. We have had our hard times. But thats what makes this journey so much for fun.
