Howdy ya'll! I'm a new member of course and sending out a big hello to everyone. I got 6 chickens (for now) for my granddaughter about a 1 1/2 weeks ago. I haven't had chickens since I was a teenager on the farm. My issue right now is figuring out how old my chicks are. The person at the store couldn't tell me. I need to find out so I know when to transition them to the coop and the next step in feed.
Thanks everyone!

Hello, Christy, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
They can be brooded directly in the coop. Pull the heat when they are fully feathered.
If you keep them on something like Flock Raiser or any complete feed with 18-20% protein, there is no transitioning feed. Just put out a container or two of oyster shell when they are 17 weeks old and you will have a great feed program for life.
