Hi, Im new to this forum, but have had chickens for 4 years, and also as a kid. I currently have a mixed flock of 10, plus 4 newbies-4weeks old (Including one surprise rooster, Ed Norton). I’ve read your threads here for awhile when looking for specific information, and have always found the information very helpful. I enjoy learning from those who have been through it. I have currently been fighting coccidossis in one of my new babies, which I’ve never had to deal with before. Also lost a hen earlier this year from water belly, which I gathered up the courage to learn to drain her. I look forward to learning from all of you, and hopefully passing on some of my knowledge too. There is so much emotional attachment for me to my girls.....and Ed Norton too!

Love his name. I too have a huge emotional attachemtn to my flock. I have 13, almost 8 week old Australorps, black. I am in the process of teaching them the coop is the safe place and their home. Weather got cooler, it was over 95 for days, wasn't too keen on trapping them in there in such heat. But we are in a cooler run now for a few days. So far they are happy. I have not raised chickens since I was a kid, this is awesome. I find it is a great way for me to use my unused maternal energy!
