Hello!
My name is Barb Hansen.
I’m a wife, mother of 5, and grandmother of 5!
I’m not a newbie in chickens, but have been out of the Showring since my last 2 kids called it quits and moved away.
We have had several show birds, which my son and daughter showed
I’m 4-H and Open Class, as well as Registered Purebred Nubian and Alpine Dairy goats.
I recently retired from 30 years of dog grooming, where my first vertebral break happened.
Urgent Care did not disclose to me that fact!
After I was laid off due to Covid, I picked up my half full mop bucket and it broke again.
LONG story short, been in bed since October and have had numerous procedures done (Thank God for Medicare)!!!
So, back to the poultry.
We had many show banties,’Buff Orpingtons, Sumatras and Call Ducks that my son still has trophies from.
We are a no kill acreage.
Some of our Black Sex Links lived to be 10!
Anyway, I have a 10 pound weight limit due to my severe osteoporosis and can’t throw alfalfa to my now pet goats, but I can do chickens!
We never lost any to predators until last year when they chewed several holes through the solid wood walls of the coop.
I love chickens and all animals!
Got a wild hair yesterday and ordered Buff Orpingtons, Porcelain d’Uccles, and assorted Silkies!
My nephew is also hatching some Blue Laced Ref Wyandottes for me too!
I need to find a way to keep the Banties safe in the barn
Long winded, but I appreciate letting me join!
Oh! Im outside Lincoln, Nebraska
