Hey all!

My name is Ashley Moore. I’m 41 and my family lives in South Georgia. I’m married with 4 children (3 biological and 1 adopted). I own a retail flooring store. We have had chickens several times. This time we hatched eggs given to us from several people and even bought a couple of the golden color hens from TSC. We currently have 10 chickens. We have 1 rooster, 7 hens and 2 little silkies we don’t know the sex of yet. Our favorite part of raising chickens is getting eggs. Right now, we get about 6 per day.

My family also 6 has Nigerian dwarf goats that we will be breeding soon as well using them for milk. I also like to farm to provide food for our family and neighbors. I love hunting and fishing, but right now with young children, we are in a very busy time in our life between school, church and sports. Everyone in our family is very helpful with the farm chores!

I found this group through the Myshire quail community. We are in the process of hatching our first quail eggs to go along with our other animals.

Hello from a fellow south Georgian. Welcome to BYC. Glad you joined our community.

Hey Janessa. Our silkies are about 6-7 months old.
If you have photos of them we could potentially help you find out the gender! Although silkies are very hard to tell! Some people don’t find out until first egg or first crow! 😂 we are lucky and all 4 of our unsexed silkies last year were hens!

I’ll get some pics and post them tomorrow. Anything particular I need to be looking for when taking a photo?
