Hello!

I’m Kristi and I'm fairly new to raising chickens. I had some Rhode Island Reds several years ago but it was so much work, especially in this Texas heat, that it zapped the joy from it! However, I feel that if I have the necessary information to do things correctly, it can be an enjoyable experience!

A little bit about myself, I’ve been married to my husband for 26 years and we have three grown children. I’m a Registered Nurse and my husband works in law enforcement so the past couple of years have been extremely tough. Additionally, in 2021 our family dynamics changed drastically when, within a few months of one another, we became empty nesters and 1st time grandparents!!

Hello, Kristi, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Having a properly designed coop/run for the number of birds you keep makes ALL the difference in your level of enjoyment. For you, I would make a large open air structure with a solid wall or two blocking the prevailing winds. And everything must be large enough to walk in it.
