Thanks yall. I am nervously excited!!
I am getting 5 duel purpose chicks, 4 keets and one rooster in 2 weeks.
I have a brooder, built in.light and feed/water, going to use sand since keets are a bit more persnickety when it comes to bedding. They will be together, I know, possible keet aggression, but I work from home and I will be with them 8 hours every day. How often do I feed them and how much the first 6 weeks?
I have an outdoor coop, have plenty of diatamatious earth for dusting.
What other things don't I know that I should?

Chicks are fed as much as they want to eat during daylight hours. If you are raising them with keets, I'd feed Flock Raiser crumbles.
Toss the DE in the garbage and just give them plain old dirt. DE can cause respiratory irritation.
I would have a bottle of Corid at the ready just in case you get an outbreak of coccidiosis.

Thank you Dobie! We have plenty of dirt, haha!!
Is corid to be used when birds are in distress or is it used as a supplement?
