Thank you! We have a Polish hen, 2 Dominique’s, 2 sapphire gems,1 RIR, 4 EE, and many mixed breeds that we incubated and of course a few misfits!

Incubating is a good way to grow your flock, but it can also be addicting. I have a batch going that's due to hatch on Tuesday.

That is so exciting! I agree, it’s very addicting. I have cut myself off for awhile! It’s so amazing to watch them hatch, then hand raise them.

I know. Every chicken that is in my flock right now was hatched right here. I'm done ordering the shipped hatching egg's, and can hatch from the flock now.

The only problem is, the last batch, I hatched 8 and 5 were roosters. Lol!

Glad to meet you, and very sorry about poor Evie. That is so hard.

If you want to know exactly what killed a chicken, each state has a place where you can get a necropsy (like an autopsy). Here is a list of all the state labs. Sometimes, it's a good thing to find that out, in case it's something that will spread through the flock.

P.S. I love that you are the chicken grandma - tell your daughter I said so.
