Hi All! I am a new member from the Eastmont Hills neighborhood in Oakland California . I have been co-hosting a young feral Ameracauna, Chickie Chiquita, since the beginning of July when she must have spooked with the explosions and flown the coop and landed in my and my neighbors backyards. It's been quite an entertaining adventure. She roosts next door on a terrace wall and arrives in my yard mid- morning and spends her happy days scratching and scrounging and rolling in the dirt and waiting for some vegie handouts. She has a couple feed and watering stations.( which other local critters take advantage of). I have a pet African Grey who is the alpha girl who gets to live in the big house. Chickie is the alpha girl of the yard and charges the squirrels and doves and towhees from around the bird feeders. As winter is approaches I am wanting this free ranging gal to have a new permanent home and roof over her head before the rains come. I am hoping someone with the ranging room and patience and compassion to introduce her humanely to some of her peers will want a spunky young healthy blue-egged whskered gal.

Aw that’s so sweet, I would love her but unfortunately I seem to be on a different continent to you. Maybe try asking in one of the other forums? I’ll see if I can find a link. Anyways, welcome to BYC!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Have you posted her to your local Craigslist? You can also try joining local FB Poultry groups and advertise her there. If she is still laying, someone will snatch her up. But vet them out and ask how they will integrate her. If they tell you they will just sneak her in the coop after dark, they are NOT a good adopter. Integration takes time. They should also mention that they will properly quarantine her. If someone mentions quarantine and using the "look don't touch" integration period and have lots of space, they are an excellent candidate. Good luck.
