New member, longtime lurker. What a wealth of information to be gained!
I’ve had chickens for about 5 years with a small hiatus in the middle.
I have about 100 young birds and am raising this flock from eggs. We’ve got bantam Cochin, Easter eggers, brown leghorns, barnyard mix, lavender Orpingtons, bielefelder, and currently have BCM and more barnyard mix in the incubator.
This time around I plan on keeping three breeding pens for the bielefelders, leghorns, and one for the Cochins or Orpingtons. I would LOVE to learn more about chicken genetics. I understand that there are SOPs but it’s like rocket science in trying to figure out which traits are carried where.
Anyway I look forward to finally posting and sharing my experiences.
