Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.

Glad to meet you, LCM, and welcome to BYC. I hope your daughter and you enjoy your flock as much as I enjoy mine. Sounds like it should be a lovely flock with beautiful eggs to fill your baskets. Best wishes!
Thank you!!
Yes, we're excited to see how well we do with the chickens to make their egg production it's best. I've heard so much positive information about EEs that we decided to go for them as the main stock for our flock. The Polish were just TOO cute to pass up and the Buff O's are close to what I had growing up.

RR hens and 1 Dominicker rooster were the other's I'm interested in. We had a D rooster in my parents coop. Sir Dominic was his name and he was huge! He had so much personality and we kids would go hang out with him and his "girls" all the time. He was one of the family for sure.

Welcome. 40 is a big flock, but you have experience and will do great.
Thank you!

I sure hope we do well. I've been "cramming" all the information I can these days. Feels like college all over again. BUT! It will be well worth it's weight in chickens and hopefully eggs too. :)

Silkies are the best! My grandmother had one named Penny. She was solid white and lived in the doghouse right under her kitchen window. She would hop up on the roof and talk with my grandmother all the time.

Best wishes with your chickens, too!
