Hi I’m Gma C.
Gma of 5 and mother of 2. I’ve got 18 chickens outside and decided to try to incubate some babies. I did it once before without a turner and this time I borrowed a turner from sister in law. Today is day 21 and nothing happening so I’m thinking this isn’t something I should be doing. I’ve got two hens sitting on egg’s outside so probably should leave this up to them. Hope to learn more about my chickens here.

21 days is just the average. Chicks can hatch a few days before or after then. Do you have separate calibrated thermometers and hygrometers in the incubator? When did you last candle?

You definitely need the proper equipment, temp, hydro gauges and good eggs for a good hatch. You might start a thread in our Incubation forums so they can give you some helpful tips on incubation... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/incubating-hatching-eggs.5/

Also, day 21 is not written in stone, sometimes they can hatch several days later.

Thanks. My husband said I’m just not being very patient. Which he’s right I’m just excited to see if it works or not. Plus just feel horrible if they die because I did something wrong.
