If you are trying to figure out if they need a bigger box, chances are that they do.
I'd love to see pictures of your dogs!

Glad to meet you. Yeah, your chicks will want more space as they get bigger. Mine developed a bully who was pecking before I realized the problem was SPACE the final frontier. Good for you to stay ahead of the problem!

I have had good luck just moving them into a cardboard box, and then adding annexes by cutting a door for them and joining the 2 boxes together. That works if they are indoors and in a safe spot. Put screen or something like it over the top so as they get ambitions to stretch their wings they won't fly

Cardboard annex sounds like a good idea. I don't have any big boxes right now. Time to order a few laundry baskets from Amazon :)
We have a screen on the box now and they are watching for an opening when I try to fill the feeder.

The chicks have a lot more room today. My husband took timeout from coop building to make the chicks a spacious new home
I am one very lucky woman.😊

Hello Chicken People
We just got our very first chickens. We got the day old chicks from our local co-op. I chose 3 different breeds because they were supposed to be docile and good layers. 2 Rodebars, 2 ColumbiaRocks and 2 Azure Blues. I hope the Azure Blues are both girls buy one is bigger than the other.
I live in Ontario, Canada on 23 acres with my husband and 3 Belgian Malinois dogs. I enjoy gardening and baking . I usually grow too much food and force it on visitors. Most of my baking is bread and bagels. I will eat cookies almost as fast as I can bake them so I don't do sweets that often. I am very happy to add chickens to my hobby list. I have wanted this for a few years .
Today I am just trying to figure out if the girls need a bigger box. I look forward to this adventure and to having a place to share chicken talk.
Have a great weekend
