So these are pictures I have of them from May 15th. They were estimated to have been hatched on the 9th or the 10th. Not the greatest photo for trying to see what breed they are but I just took the photos since they were having so much fun in their little pool for their afternoon swim.Hi there! Welcome to BYC! Can you post pictures of the ducks? Maybe we can help you figure out what breeds they are. And I just love ducks, so I want to see them.happy BYC-ing!!
Welcome to BYC!!(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- I am new to raising chickens. I grew up in Norco California, if anyone knows where that is, it is a horse and livestock community. I never had my own chickens there as my father was raised with chickens and never wanted to deal with them again. However he loved having them around us with our neighbors. We moved a few years back and he missed hearing the chickens and roosters throughout the day. So I went out and brought home a few meat chickens to see his reaction. He wasn't too thrilled. However, within twenty four hours he was sending me links to tge types of chickens he was raised with and I took that as my go ahead to start getting more!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- Currently I have 2 geese, 2 ducks, 1 rooster, 18 chickens, and two meat birds.
(3) What breeds do you have?
- I have a white chinese goose, a brown chinese gander, I am not sure what Breen my ducks or my rooster is. As far as the hens go I have two rhoad island reds, one Speckled sussex, one Sicilian Buttercup, two easter Eggers, two blue breasted leghorns, four leghorns, two golden comets, two black sex links, and two dominiques. I also have two meat birds that are almost ready for butchering.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- I love just sitting outside and watching them roam around foraging and listening to then talk.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
- I was raised with horses and dogs so I love going horse back ridding as well as showing dogs. I am an avid reader so you'll always find me with a book in my hands getting lost in a story.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- I come from a large family with 3 brothers and one sister. I am the baby in the family with a large age gap between myself and my siblings. My youngest sibling is seventeen years older than me and my oldest sibling is twenty six years older than me. I have eight neices and nephews and one great nephew. I just recently married my husband and we have animals currently and no children of our own. I am a homemaker.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- I found this website when I first purchased my meat chickens and was doing as much research as I could. I decided to join because while I have found answers to most of my questions I feel it would benefit from being able to ask my own questions as well.

Oh my goodness! Stop it you’re killing me! They are too cute to exist! The yellow one might be Pekin or white layer, but I’m confused that the bill is a little dark and the butter scotch looking one perhaps a khaki Campbell. So cute, thank you!!So these are pictures I have of them from May 15th. They were estimated to have been hatched on the 9th or the 10th.
