hi!!! Are used to live in the high desert in California , antelope valley ! in lake Los Angeles to be exact. And I had chickens and ducks and turkeys and a pig, and a goat and a sheep. It was a long time ago. But I remember hosing down the chicken coop, hosing down the ducks, lots of water and planting trees, shade shade more shade, and water, water, water, most important things in the desert. WELCOME TO BYC. IT’S NICE TO MEET YOU!
We are in Apple Valley. Thanks for the welcome and it's good to meet you too!

Hi everyone,
I found this site trying to do some research and decided to join so I can interact and ask questions of more experienced chicken owners.
This is my first time raising chickens. My mom had silkies but I don't have any experience.
I live in the high desert in California and have challenging weather. It can go as low as the 20s in the winter to the triple digits in the summer.
I'm hoping to get some advice in how to keep my new babies happy and healthy.
Welcome. You are doing a great job.
