Hi, new member to BYC and new chicken and duck mama. The truth is you can read everything about them but until you get them, you don't become truly enlightened or enchanted.
I have 3 Ameraucana Spalshes (one with scissor beak), 4 Easter Eggers, 4 Fawn and White Runner ducks (one female waaaaa), and 2 Ancona drakes (double waaaaa).
My ducks are 16 weeks and the chickens are 11 weeks. I love them all. They are friendly, cuddly, funny, and highly intelligent. It will be hard to part with my drakes as I am renting and not allowed to build a separate bachelor pad.
I'm looking forward to learning more from all of you and offering my experiences to any that would like to read about them!
Welcome to BYC

such darling pictures! in the second one, is that the girl the only one looking up at you? It looks like she is saying , "halp!"
Yes that is Miss Ruby! She co
es right up to me and nuzzels my neck and face. All the drakes are still very sweet but they aren't fully matured yet. The Anconas court her with head bobs and noises that sound like a bull frog. The 3 Runners just follow her around without crowding her but I know that will change.

Best case scenario is to find females for all of them. If I can't, Miss Ruby will have her choice of drake to stay with her 🥰
oohh ok i gotcha... but you know the drake to hen ratio for ducks is not 1:1, right? more like 1:5 ... drakes are extremely sexual creatures and harm the hens if there isnt a good ratio, even then sometimes, and also they can fight with each other.. it can get very ugly. An all drake flock is ok, but if they have girls, they need a lot of them!
