I am new to this forum. Whenever googling things I find myself on this sight often. I have 8 chickens 2 are new chicks this year. The other 6 I got last March as day old chicks. My first chickens ever. I have 2 New Hampshire Reds, 3 Golden Laced Wyandottes, 1 Welsummer, 1 EE (new), and 1 Ameraucana (new). Since winter has ended I have 1 chicken not lay eggs at all, Lola the NHR and the top of the pecking order. She has been caught mounting the other NHR like a rooster. She is healthy, they are fed local organic soy free layer feed and free range all day on 1.5 acres of land with a natural spring fed creek water and a water bucket. I throw out grub terra black soldier fly larvae for treats. Lola goes to the nesting box and sits in there like she is going to lay but never leaves an egg. She sometimes even does her little song like she layed one. I'm at a loss on what else to try. My next step is to get a rooster and try that. I've searched my property to see if she is laying somewhere else and can't seem to find eggs any where. I have also separated her from the other chickens for like 5 days and nothing. She just seemed more stressed out.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

A rooster won't drive her to lay, so I wouldn't bother with that route. There are a lot of reasons a hen won't lay from the weather, stress, bad diet, overall health, illness, time of year, molting, birds that are broody a lot, etc.... Stop by this article and see if you can glean anything from it... https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/why-are-my-hens-not-laying.64564/

You say she mounting others? Sometimes this is a dominance thing, it can also be hormonal, she may not be big on laying.

Good luck with her!

I've already marked off all those things. She is the dominant one but not overly aggressive. She was the first one to lay eggs for me and was laying the best and then abruptly stopped. She hasn't molted yet and doesn't sit on eggs like she's broody. And she's only just over a year old.
